We are your journey companion
Built on a foundation of respect, safety, and genuine care for the mountains and people who call them home.
It started with a dream and a pair of worn hiking boots. Our founder, Mingma Sherpa, began his journey as a young porter on the trails of the Khumbu region, carrying supplies for trekkers who came from around the world to witness the majesty of the Himalayas.
Over 15 years, Mingma worked his way up from porter to guide, eventually becoming a certified high-altitude guide. But along the way, he saw something that troubled him: guides treated unfairly, porters overworked, sacred trails littered, and communities left behind despite the tourism flowing through their lands.
In 2010, Mingma founded The Greatest Expedition Partner with a simple mission: to create a trekking company that honors the mountains, respects the people, and ensures every journey leaves a positive impact. What began as a one-man operation with borrowed equipment has grown into a team of 45 passionate guides, porters, and support staff—all treated with dignity and fair wages.
"Every mountain has a story. Every trekker becomes part of ours. And we become part of theirs."
— Mingma Sherpa, Founder & Lead Guide
